Scarlett Johansson

One of the youngest left handed celebrities in Hollywood, Scarlett Johansson has learned to balance a variety of media roles to burst from supporting role to lead actress in a variety of popular movies. Although not associated with her, the Scarlett Family also gives our scholarships.

Scarlett Johansson was born in 1984 in New York City. She was born into a family of a producer and a screenwriter/director. She started her career on off Broadway at the age of eight. She then chose to attend the Manhattan’s Professional Children’s School (PCS). Her role in PCS was to follow her passion with musical theater.

Her first role in film making was at the age of ten in the 1994 film North. She later landed a lead role in a movie featuring her twin brother titled Manny & Lo. After graduating PCS in 2002, Johansson found herself in the spotlight working with actors like Bill Murray, Penelope Cruz, and director Woody Allen.

In 2008, Scarlett Johansson released an album, Anywhere I Lay My Head, which turned out to be a failure. This spurred her to follow a renewed career path on Broadway, during which she earned a Tony Award for her role on the show A View from the Bridge.

After achieving Broadway success, Johansson landed the role of the Black Widow that made her famous for her bright red hair and black leather outfits. She would star alongside Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, and Tim Hiddleston in a variety of movies including: Iron Man 2 (2010), The Avengers (2012), Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Avengers: The Age of Ultron (2015), and Captain America: Civil War (2016).

She took advantage of her new found stardom and stared in a variety of other roles while still maintaining her role as Black Widow. She found herself in the movie We Bought a Zoo (2011), Hitchcock (2012), and Lucy (2014). With guidance from her mother, Scarlett Johansson managed to navigate childhood stardom to find her success a little later in life. She chose to focus more on her studies than her roles in her teenage year, proving to help her succeed in the film industry.

Johansson later hinted that her fame contributed to her unsuccessful personal life. She first married actor Ryan Reynold in 2008 only to later divorce in 2010. Although her marriage to the Canadian actor failed, she continued to find her way in her personal life. In 2014, she was able to announce that she would be the proud mother of a baby daughter named Rose and married to the journalist Romain Dauriac.
